The Value and Power of Advocacy: Practical Skills to Turn Everyday Work into Influence

Advocacy doesn’t require adding more work to already full plates. In fact, many

nonprofit leaders, development professionals, and board members are already doing advocacy – they just may not be recognizing it as such.

This interactive workshop builds on the foundation of Advocacy 101 and focuses on practical ways to integrate advocacy into the work you’re already doing: fundraising conversations, community partnerships, storytelling, board engagement, and donor communications.

Participants will hear from community leaders who actively engage in advocacy and will walk away with simple tools and strategies they can apply immediately.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will leave with specific ways to:

  • Turn impact stories and data into advocacy messages

  • Confidently communicate with policymakers and community leaders

  • Activate board members and donors as advocates

  • Identify everyday moments where advocacy naturally fits into their work

  • Use simple frameworks to influence decisions that impact their mission

We look forward to seeing you there!
